๐ About Julia
"Well hello ๐ฆ
My name is Julia and I am a self-taught shuffle dance enthusiast from Finland and since 2021 also its teacher. In 2015 I probably saw shuffle videos for the first time on the internet and thatโs when I decided I wanted to learn that dance. Here I am still on that path and itโs been 8 years since I started this dance. My dance style is not only focused on one shuffle style, but I am also influenced by different dance styles. I started out mixing cutting shapes but since then my style has changed to melbourne and today itโs a mix of everything. I have a dance background from my youth: hip hop, street dance and ballet, but I think the biggest influence is also aerobic gymnastics, which I also practiced when I was younger. Over the years I have developed my own mixed dance style. So I can say that I donโt fit into one mold. ๐ฆ

๐ What is Melbourne Shuffle?
The Melbourne Shuffle, often simply referred to as "rocking", is a dance style that emerged in the underground rave music scene in Melbourne, Australia, during the late 1980s. Characterized by quick heel-and-toe movements and a style that resembles a fast-paced slide, shuffling is often performed to electronic music genres like trance, hardstyle, and techno. This dance emphasizes rapid, intricate footwork combined with a relaxed upper body. Dancers often incorporate various hand movements and spins and kicks, adding to the dynamic nature of the style.
